We rewrote every AI prompt in Particle. Not because they were broken — but because we realized they were doing the wrong thing well.
Our coach used to tell you things. "Your longest session this week." "Drift and mornings are your sweet spot." True observations, clearly stated, instantly forgotten.
Now it asks. "52 minutes on the API refactor — what kept you in it?" "Three mornings in a row with Drift. What draws you to that combination?"
The difference is everything. A statement gives you information. A question gives you insight. One you read and nod. The other you read and think. We want you to think.
This isn't a cosmetic change. We rewrote four core prompt systems — session insights, the master coach, weekly compass, and recommendations — to lead with curiosity instead of conclusions. Every AI-generated message in Particle now ends with a question or invites reflection.
We published the research behind this decision: the best coaching methodologies — from Timothy Gallwey's Inner Game to clinical Motivational Interviewing — all converge on the same finding. People change when they discover the reason themselves. Not when someone tells them.
